Categories

Default categories

TheBooks.tax includes a default set of categories designed to cover the most common tax report needs — income, expenses, cost of goods sold, and transfers. Default categories cannot be deleted.

Add a category

To add a custom category, go to the Categories page and click Add Category. Give it a name and assign it a type (Income, Expense, etc.).

Edit a category

Click on any category to rename it or change its type.

Delete a category

Custom categories can be deleted from the Categories page. Note that deleting a category will uncategorize any transactions currently assigned to it.
